Istanbul Kültür University “Faculty of Engineering Day”, organized to celebrate academic, sports and cultural achievements of students was celebrated on Tuesday, 10 May, 2022 in the front garden of Ataköy Campus.
Event started with speeches of Rector and Dean of Faculty of Engineering Fadime Üney Yüksektepe and students who represent our university in competitions with projects they have developed, exhibited their works.
Projects of IKU Asimov Club and IKU IEEE Club;
“KARADUL” IKU RED WINGS FIGHTER UAV COMPETITION
The IKU Red Wings Team, which is under the name of the RAS committee of the IKU IEEE Club, which represents our university in the "Combat UAV" category of the TEKNOFEST 2021 competition, competed in the final stage with the project they prepared. The UAV, whose canopy, engine holders, landing gear, canopy shelf and software were developed by our students, can take off, drive and land autonomously. The aim of the competitors in the Fighting UAV category is to detect and lock the rival UAVs, both virtually and autonomously, and get points with the UAV they have prepared.
LUPUS ROCKET TEAM
The LUPUS Rocket Team, which is under the name of the RAS committee of the IKU IEEE Club, which represents our university in the "Medium Altitude Rocket" category of the TEKNOFEST 2021 competition, competed in the final stage with the rocket they prepared. In this competition, where interdisciplinary work is quite significant, our team succeeded in passing all stages in their first year. The avionics system, which was coded with a completely original software, was highly appreciated by the referees. The aim of the Rocket Competition is to increase students' interest in the field of space technologies and to improve their abilities in this field.
“K-ROD” KUASAR TECHNOLOGY CONTEST FOR HUMANITY
The KUASAR Team, which is under the name of the RAS committee of the IKU IEEE Club, representing our university in the "Technology for the Benefit of Humanity" category of the TEKNOFEST 2021 competition, competed in the final stage with the walking stick they prepared. K-ROD is an assistive walking stick designed for the visually impaired, equipped with cameras and sensors, providing safety and independence. K-ROD informs the user about the surrounding objects with ultrasonic sensors and artificial intelligence. It is to inform about detected objects to the user through the voice warning, voice assistant by the device.
“HÜMA” IKU RED WINGS FIGHTER UAV COMPETITION
The IKU Red Wings Team, which is under the name of the RAS committee of the IKU IEEE Club, which represents our university in the "Combat UAV" category of the TEKNOFEST 2022 competition, approached the final stage with the Fixed Wing UAVs named "HÜMA". UAV, which is preparing to leave its mark on the competition with its completely original software and high hardware, is preparing to perform two different tasks. The UAV developed by our students can take off, drive and land autonomously. The aim of the competitors in the Fighting UAV category is to detect and lock the rival UAVs, both virtually and autonomously, and get points with the UAV they have prepared. At the same time, this UAV will perform the mission called Kamikaze and has a very high maneuverability.
ASTRA ROCKET TEAM
The ASTRA Rocket Team, which is under the name of the RAS committee of the IKU IEEE Club, representing our university in the "Medium Altitude Rocket" category of the TEKNOFEST 2022 competition, will compete in the final stage. Rocket of our team, which passed the reporting stages with a high degree, counts the days until the rocket, all parts of which are manufactured originally, will meet with the skies. The aim of the competition is to collect and reassemble the rocket with its parts intact, after reaching an altitude of 3000 meters, and to share the data obtained during the flight with the referees. Our rocket, which is produced using glass fiber and aluminum, is a marvel of design structurally.
“K-ROD” KUASAR BARRIER-FREE LIVING TECHNOLOGIES COMPETITION
The KUASAR Team, which is under the name of the RAS committee of the IKU IEEE Club, which represents our university in the "Technology for the Benefit of Humanity" category of the TEKNOFEST 2022 competition, is making its final preparations for the final stage with its walking stick. The artificial intelligence software in the walking stick they designed this year has been thoroughly developed and provides a full service to the user.
Event ended with the presentation of the teams performing, the presentation of the high honor students, the presentation of the students who successfully represented our university in conferences and competitions, the presentation of the students who took part in the management of successful student clubs, the presentation of the students who took part in the sports teams, the presentation and celebration of the students who opened the graduation project stands.
